Our country, along with many others, has always taken pride in it's ability to innovate and push past the times. We as a species have relied on technological advancement for a long time, ever since the industrial age took the world by storm, and since then technology has taken us to new heights and back again. I believe in the fact that many different sources of energy efficient power storage have been discovered and utilized, and while I do condone any over-usage of an improper amount of gas and electric power resources, it's not necessarily something that has to completely be reinvented. When something in our daily lives happens that is unexpected, our strategy is usually to wipe the slate clean in our minds and start approaching that thing differently. The same should happen to our energy sources, and I believe that as long as it is a clean, efficient energy source that can be implemented on several different kinds of platforms available to the larger market, it is something that should be used by all consumers in the world.
The decline of gas, coal, and other natural resources that we've been continuing to use for several generations of human history will signify a shift in mentality from both the consumers and the distributors. The byproducts that have been generated by these gambles in environmental instability have actually been circling the atmosphere for some time now, without any signs of slowing down. In order to prevent our resources from drying up completely, we need to channel our intelligence and create a new innovation to combat the one-track minds of corporations who just want to milk everything in sight.
Reasons for this refusal to change old ways in the wake of the energy crisis can only be a general sense of greed; people want to get as much for themselves as they can, and the only way to do that would be to waste as much resources as possible. Drag the bar down to the very end so that everybody can suffer, if only for the personal cause of human greed and consumption.
The cause of the argument of energy consumption vs ecofriendly alternative resources is due to the conflicting different opinions among the various energy industry's main developers. Some choose to stick with what they have that is economically filling for them, and that is the status quo... continue burning fossil fuels, continue to leak hidden chemicals into the soil through drilling for oil, and not change a thing. It gets them a profit, and that makes them feel good. Nothing else really matters.
On the other hand, we have the true innovators; the ones who are willing to compromise their own personal wealth for the sake of the entire planet. They try to keep the world from becoming depleted of it's resources, and keep the economy stable while they do that. Some people in the car industry are starting more and more to promote ecofriendly smart cars, against the wishes of the car companies. Independent installation companies are providing people with different options to receive energy for their houses, through solar panels, wind turbines and the like. They haven't just abandoned the industry entirely like some hippie-haters would lead you to believe; they are trying to alter it for the better, for the good of our human bodies and all other natural life.
They are trying to prove that we CAN change. We just need to take that bold step Into The Unknown.
In my personal opinion, if everyone in the world used Solar Power, there would be less cause for concern because solar energy is infinite... the sun isn't set to go down for another billion years, and there isn't a place in the world that doesn't receive some amount of sunlight. I'm actually quite certain that Solar Power can save the world from any sort of energy crisis that may come up in the near future, because if everyone in the world used it, . Making sure that it all stems from a certain point of view, my intentions for fixing this energy crisis are hopefully clear and well recognized by society.
As for what the future holds, well... perhaps a hundred years from now, we will look back on the energy we consume on a daily basis in the present day and laugh, because by then, we will have developed a completely new, stable source of energy that's ten times more efficient than any of the ones that we have created so far.
Or we'll be wallowing in our own filth from the coming apocalypse, I don't know.
Until that day comes, we all just have to keep moving forward into the future, while never forgetting the mistakes our predecessors have made.
