The American Denial of Global Warming ~Analysis, Response and Critique~

Very recently, we watched a video discussing Global Warming made and conducted for the purpose of educating the general public about the things that they might not have a clear grasp on about the different concepts and opinions of global warming. The lecture was conducted by a one Naomi Oreskes, phd. She is a woman who definitely cares a lot about her chosen profession. She appears to be eccentric and well-informed, yet contains opinions of her own that, to the uneducated, might come off as a tad predictable and unnecessary.

INTRODUCTION
Ms. Oreskes brought up a few points that I made sure to take note of during my watching of this video...
Water Vapor is also considered green house gas, and there was belief that it was one of the main causes of the warming through absorption. However, she confirms, the absorption between carbon dioxide and oxygen was not actually a thing, and that we were just being used to the media's advantage. Essentially, we were playing right into their hands by going along with what was being said, that the scientists did not yet know enough to take any further action on the problem, when in fact the scientists knew perfectly well what they were dealing with in terms of the environment. In Naomi's words, "Humans were performing a great geothermic experiment." Evidently, the situation that came out of the media's denial of the cause of the problem lead to a greater increase of the problem itself; or at least, that's what she had to say in the matter.

BRIEF NOTES that were taken during the video:
-Scientific Problems on Climate Modification can be fully recognized by we the common, not necessarily just the higher up scientists.

-By '65, people were already aware of what was going on in the environment, but were simply not taking steps to prevent it at all. In the 1970s, the awareness was even larger with a report on the long term affects of climate change being fully developed.

-Inadvertent Weather Modification= Climate and weather being changed by accident, by either human or natural causes.

-Polar Amplification= The switching of climate in polar locations to something with a heat level four or five times as large as any other continent.. This means that if the surface temperature increases in Alaska in several degrees or of the standard means, it would be the same thing for the entire world.

-The Chaney Report- If carbon dioxide continues increasing, the affects would be nothing important. There was already a consensus in 1979 that global warming was bound to continue, and that fact alone was not enough to get people to start thinking more about the state of the environment.

-To analyze the temperature of the world, to predict when it would rise higher, we would have to gather together amounts of data from every source around the country.

THE DENIAL- Final Thoughts and Opinions
Though Americans are convinced that global warming happens, what Naomi is trying to say in this video is that the general consensus of the common folk is to believe that scientists are still arguing about what negative implications climate change would have on the human race. There's actually a reason for this, for people have been told that a consensus hasn't been reached yet by the media and several crucial members of the government, and as such, "the scientific debate remains open" and nothing is really going to get solved.

I agree with her on some level, and I do believe that as long as the government didn't interfere with the free market, people might have been able to get more into the global climate movement more efficiently. I thought that the generalized idea that the environment is positive and big business is negative can be seen as a bit one sided, though the opinions of the Ms. Oreskes are something to be considered and analyzed. While most would prefer to be ignorant and unobstructed in their views, that's not necessarily the case with the community of people who do actually care about the issue, and nowadays more than ever, people are responding to the change of views and trying to alter their views on the ecological footprint.

The process of everything making right again is long and hard, but there don't necessarily have to be villains in this story... instead of simply attacking the free market more and more, repeating all of the riots and uproar in a larger way and failing to cooperate with anyone, our solution towards concluding the issue should be working together to reach more of an intellectual perspective. Rather than pinning the blame on any member of society, we should try our best to take full responsibility for anything that the human race has caused and working together as a unified community to make sure that things don't get worse anytime soon.
